Iced Vanilla Latte made with only 3 ingredients for a refreshing drink that tastes better than Starbucks and is also more affordable!

Better than Starbucks Iced Vanilla Latte (1)

I used to frequent Starbucks for coffee and all kinds of coffee treats... until I checked my credit card balance.

Yes! I've already spent too much on food and drink I could make at home.

One of the cold drinks that I love the most are the iced lattes, which are also available in the fridge of many supermarkets.

I tried to create a copycat recipe of their popular Iced Vanilla Latte, but after a few tries it actually tasted better than Starbucks.

Of course, the quality of the ingredients plays just as important a role as the preparation of the coffee.

The same ingredients are enough to make this vanilla iced latte recipe many times and other variations too.

You end up spending less than buying coffee drinks at Starbucks.

Ingredients

This Iced Vanilla Latte is so easy that anyone can make it in no time! You don't have to be a barista! Here's what you need to do this:

  • Café:You can use any strong coffee of your choice or an espresso. However, for a rich taste, I recommend you buy 100% Arabica coffee! Be sure to follow package directions for brewing your coffee ahead of time and chilling for this recipe. If you prefer, you can even freeze your finished coffee in an ice tray! The coffee packaging will tell you which type of coffee maker is best for the type of ground coffee you are using, as you can learn more about this in Types of Ground Coffee below.
  • Leite:We use low fat (2%) milk to make this skim milk product, but you can use whole milk, half and half or morehomemade coffee cream. Use whipped cream for a keto latte, while using a non-dairy creamer for a non-dairy latte!
  • Vanillesirup:You can find it on Amazon or at your local grocery store. You can use regular syrup or an unsweetened version for a low-carb latte.
  • Complements(OPTIONAL) – For a stronger vanilla flavor, stir 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract into brewed coffee immediately after brewing while it is still hot. If you like sweet coffee drinks, you can add a tablespoon or so of sugar.
  • Eis -everyone has it at home! For an iced latte, add to the drink before making the latte; Otherwise, your latte will be watery.

Types of ground coffee and coffee machines

In case you didn't know, the type of coffee grounds determines the best type of coffee maker to use when brewing your cup of coffee as follows:

Starbucks Vanilla Iced Latte

Its Iced Vanilla Latte lists as ingredients on the bottle:

  • Low-fat milk (2%)- like us! It also lists skimmed milk, which makes me wonder if there's a mix of both in the latte.
  • Starbucks Brewed Espresso (Their Signature Roasted Espresso)– You can use theirs or buy your likes!
  • Sugar and Natural Flavors (Starbucks Vanilla Syrup)– but you can choose any of your options.

Their carafe of coffee, sold in the fridge of several supermarkets, describes their iced drink as a smooth vanilla flavor with strong espresso and creamy milk!

Common questions:

What's in an Iced Latte?

It's basically espresso chilled and poured over ice, then mixed with flavored coffee syrup and a splash of cream/milk. If you prefer, you can use strong or cold coffee, but it won't taste the same as espresso. Lattes usually order espresso!

Can you make this Iced Vanilla Latte recipe with brewed coffee instead of espresso?

Yes! You can use strong coffee or even a cold brew instead of espresso in this recipe.

Be aware that a strong drink will require more syrup to properly sweeten your Iced Latte.

Is Cold Brew Iced Coffee?

NO! Cold brew can be much stronger than iced coffee and last longer before going sour.

However, it can be used in an iced coffee recipe, especially if you like stronger flavored drinks.

Prepare Cold Brew by simply combining water and ground coffee. Then leave overnight at room temperature.

How much ice is in a Starbucks iced coffee drink?

Starbucks cold drinks are half ice. So a Large drink (16oz) contains 8oz of ice.
